Description of Target Audience
We decided that our film rating would be PG.
PG stands for Parental Guidance. This means a film is suitable for general viewing, but some scenes featured in the film may be unsuitable for young children (such as when Sophie, the main character, aims to find out how her mother died). Parents should consider whether the content of the film may upset younger, or more sensitive, children and if so, then it is not an appropriate movie for them to watch.
Our film is a PG as there is no romantic storylines or violence featured in our movie. Because of this, we could say it was a PG however we couldn't lower the rating down to a U as the main storyline of the film deals with a death and this may be unsettling and unpleasant for young children to see.

Certification
We as a group decided that our film would be rated PG. We originally decided it would be a 12 but then we realized that as there is no violence or romantic scenes, we could make it a PG as younger audiences would definitely be allowed to watch it, however, we didn't want to rate it a U because there are some scenes young viewers may find upsetting (the mother of the main character dying whilst the main character is of a young age).

Costume & Makeup
Costume
and Makeup:
The
protagonist and our main character, Sophie and the other characters will not be
wearing make-up as it is not vital to our trailer. If they are wearing make-up
it will be minimal and natural. However, the main character, Sophie, will be
wearing mascara to make her eyes stand out more and it will help when we film
extreme-close up of her eyes. Sophie does not need to wear lots of make-up as
she is representing a ‘normal’ teenage girl. However, as shown in the picture,
she will have a birthmark/tattoo on her wrist which represents her ability to
time travel and the bond between herself, her mother and her grandmother. Due
to the fact that we are not using much make-up, the audience can focus more on
the narrative of the trailer rather than the appearance of the main character
which is what we want. She will also just be wearing jeans and shirts/t-shirts
and a coat as we want Sophie to represent a ‘normal’ teenager so we do not need
her to wear any costumes as the costume is not that important to our trailer.
Green Rating Screen for Trailer - Pics
This is us making the green rating screen on Paint. We got some inspiration by looking at trailers and what the trailers' green screen said and we changed it slightly to make it more relevant to our trailer.

R3 Film Trailer - First Draft
Evaluation
There are quite a few things that are good about our first draft but also some things that could be improved and added to make it a better trailer.
What is good about the first draft of your trailer?
I am happy with the shots we have in our first draft as they
are of high quality and they look professional and good for our trailer and also the editing of the shots such as the reverse and fast forward also improved the shots and made them look more sci-fi for our trailer so it fits in with the genre well. I like
the way the logos came out, they look very professional and we made sure that
our company name fit in with the sci-fi genre by going with the name of ‘Shuttle
Productions’. I also think some of the music and sound effects used in our
trailer work well together and fit in with the shots that we had on the trailer.
What can be improved?
I think that more shots needed to be added into our trailer as at the moment, as we are missing the main narrative it doesn't look much like a trailer but if we add the shots that we need of the main narrative, it will make more sense to our audience and be more structured. The editing could be improved so that it flows better like a trailer does rather than having it look jumbled up and maybe have more varied transitions rather than fade to black. We also definitely need to add more titles as we only have two titles and titles also help structure the trailer better and also help with the narrative of the trailer and it also helps the audience to understand what our trailer is about.

Institutional Logo Ideas
This is one of the logos that we came up with. We went with a spaceship as that is immediately associated with sci-fi. I also came up with the idea of calling it 'Comet Productions' which also links to the sci-fi genre.
Another logo idea we came up with was the name of 'Illusion Productions' and we also made the logo an illusion and we coloured it in blue which symbolizes sci-fi genre as blue is associated with sci-fi.

Institutional Logo for Trailer - Construction Pics
Here is the initial idea for our institutional logo and the name of our production company.
This is the logo being made. We had the idea of moving the scrabble pieces, taking lots of pictures and then making the pictures move fast to go like a clip.
This is the final picture of our institutional logo after we moved the tiles to create these words.

Titling of Trailers: The Host & Infini
The Host
1. “The Earth is at peace, there are no wars, there is no hunger. Honesty, courtesy, kindness are practised by all. The world has never been more perfect.”
2. “It is no longer your world.”
3. “The battle for your world has ended.” (0:47)
4. “The battle for your future” (0:52)
5. “Has begun” (0:58)
6. “You will be one of us” (1:11)
7. Main title (1:10)
The titling is very stereotypically sci-fi as it has the hint of glowing blue which is used a lot in sci-fi films for their titles. The glowing effect is used in all of the titles which hints at the genre and makes the titles look futuristic. The first title starts off calmly and it makes everything seem almost too perfect but once it gets to the second title when the title says ‘it is no longer your world’ it becomes more chaotic and fast. The way the titles are written and designed, it hints that the film may be based on something that isn’t human such as an alien which hints at the sci-fi genre.
The titles help with the narrative structure of the trailer as they help the audience understand what the film is about. The titles are also quite blunt and this makes an effect on the audience and also raises enigmas to the audience as they will not be aware completely of what is happening and why the world is changing.
Infini
1. “In the dawn of the 23rd century” (0:07)
2. “The world’s highest paying jobs” (0:12)
3. “Are also the most dangerous” (0:19)
4. “Out here” (1:28)
5. “Their greatest threat” (1:31)
6. “Is each other” (1:34)
7. Main title (1:52)
The titling is also very stereotypical for sci-fi as the font looks computerised and also has the hint of glowing blue which seems to be used in most sci-fi trailers. The glowing blue effect is the same throughout all of the titles and it also makes the titles look futuristic. The way that the titles in this trailer are designed and made to look computerised to hint at sci-fi genre.
These titles in the trailer also help the audience somewhat understand the synopsis of the film. We can understand that there is some action going on and there is a threat to the world and we also learn that the film is set in the future but the titles do not tell the audience that much about the film.

Pros and Cons of Sci-Fi Genre
In the picture, I listed the pros and cons of doing the sci-fi genre for my trailer as that is the genre I chose to do for my trailer. After analysing the pros and cons, I decided to stay with the sci-fi genre.
